Entrepreneurs and businesses to receive Mentoring from Local & International Experts

Sunshine Coast locals will be able to pick the brains of some the best entrepreneurs and business people at a unique mentoring event on Thursday 16 November 2017.
Mentor Blaze is a high energy, speed mentoring event where attendees face multiple “speed sessions” with different mentors to explore their business ideas or challenges. If you have an idea for a new startup business or plans to scale an existing business then you can test your strategies with a range of willing entrepreneurs and expert mentors, in the same place, at the same time. The Sunshine Coast event will be held at cool new Sunshine Coast workspace the Hive, kon-tiki 55 Plaza Parade, Maroochydore.
The new features for this specific November 2017 event include a special youth segment where Students and Youth can speak with experts about their startup concepts and potential ventures, or about how to get engaged with the entrepreneurial ecosystem. There will also be specific youth entrepreneurs to mentor other youth and yes this is available for the older generation is well. We challenge you to be mentored by someone 20 years younger than you. Also new for this event is a Symmetric live connection into Singapore for both Mentors/Mentees. The usual live connection to Brisbane will also be on offer.
Mentor Blaze is targeted at startups, high growth ventures and spinoff opportunities for existing businesses. It also allows new entrepreneurs to obtain direct and varied feedback on their startup idea from the Sunshine Coast’s experienced mentor network. This feedback will help them focus their idea, progress it or even dump it. Mentors on the day will include founders who have exited, founders of growth stage startups, investors, experienced entrepreneurs, senior executives from global technology companies, professional service providers such as lawyers and accountants, and more.
It is fast and furious – each mentor session is 20 minutes. Following/During the event, you will be also able to network with other attendees and floating mentors. Over the course of the two-hour event, participants will sit down with up to three mentors of their choosing for short, focussed one-on-one sessions. They can also choose to Skype with mentors from other Mentor Blaze events being held simultaneously across Queensland and overseas. Mentees prepare for this Speed Mentoring event by practising their 3 minute “context speil”, formulating their specific questions (up to 3) and practising their listening skills. Mentees with questions regarding their preparation should contact event organisers.
Entrepreneur in Residence and event facilitator Dr Dean Alle said Mentor Blaze would provide a rare opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs, students and businesspeople to speak with mentors with a broad range of expertise.
“Mentoring is really important to the entrepreneurial journey, because it allows you to learn from other people’s mistakes and experiences,” Dr Alle said. This type of intense learning is difficult to obtain in any other format. It will shift your thinking and open your mind to options.
“Mentor Blaze is unique because of the range of mentors on offer – you can sit down with a number of experts, all with different backgrounds and areas of expertise, which means you might get two or three fresh perspectives on a particular idea or challenge. There is also the opportunity to follow up with the Mentor after the event.

Mentor Blaze is Queensland’s premier startup mentoring event, with sessions held simultaneously in different locations around the state .
This Mentor Blaze Sunshine Coast event will be held at the Hive, kon-tiki 55 Plaza Parade Maroochydore on Thursday 16 November 2017. Mentoring runs from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, followed by networking. Mentees to arrive at 4:15pm for briefing.
